Ask any doctor if there is a link between diet and acne and almost all of them will tell you there is not. Journal of the American Medical Association quote, “Diet plays no role in the treatment of acne in most patients...even large amounts of certain foods have not clinically exacerbated acne.”

With years of medical training and clinical experience behind these claims, how can we, the ordinary acne sufferers, challenge these statements and think otherwise? The answer is doubt.

The fact is that countless acne sufferers have reported that their acne seemed to worsen when they ate certain foods. When they eliminated the same foods from their diet and introduced specific nutritionally beneficial foods into their diet, their acne improved drastically.

So why do dermatologists insist diet does not cause acne? The answer: you can’t make money by promoting a healthy diet. At least not as much money as you could make selling drugs and over-the-counter products. Pharmaceutical companies enormously pressured doctors to prescribe expensive, addictive drugs and lotions. Your doctor is of a hostage to the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical companies. Did you know that pharmaceutical companies, who have no interest in producing something they cannot financially control, sponsor most medical schools?

The right diet, while not a solution, can most times dramatically reduce inflammation and even clear up acne completely (if you are one of the lucky ones, an allergic reaction to food triggers whose acne). Promoting a clear skin diet simply means less profit for pharmaceutical and drug companies.

Conventional medications will never cure your acne, simply because they are pre-designed NOT to address the internal cause of acne. They treat the external symptoms of a disease and create more and more addiction, and more addiction means making more money at our expense and in our ignorance.

The theory that diet does not cause acne is a myth.

The dogmatic theory that diet does not cause acne, and that acne is just it based an incurable genetic disorder on two dated research studies published in 1969 and 1971 that investigated the link between diet and acne.

These studies were the basis of the “acne symptom treatment strategy”, so since acne is a genetic disease that cannot be prevented, the only way to treat acne would be to address its symptoms (bacteria, inflammation, pus, redness, oiliness), by applying creams, antibiotics, prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Enough, years after the above studies were published, extensive clinical trials and research on the link between acne and diet revealed that the 1969 and 1971 studies were flawed and, in fact, seriously flawed.

Recent studies have clearly established a significant link between diet and acne. Poor diet is now considered one of the major contributing factors to acne, which can negatively affect hormonal regulation and the natural process of eliminating toxins, which can seriously worsen existing acne.

Diet shapes who you are (including your acne)

In the same way that crashing waves shape the cliffs of beaches and wind shapes the walls of canyons, slowly and methodically over time, food shapes and affects our physical, internal system, our physical and mental being, from the organ to the cellular level.

That something foreign to our bodies, inserted through the food we eat, has no effect on us, or has no impact on chronic conditions such as acne, is absurd. Diet is the principal thing that affects and shapes who we are.

The Acne Diet and the Kitavan Islanders

While in the United States, over 80% of teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18 have acne and over 17 million Americans suffer from some form of acne, there is interesting evidence that indigenous people who live and eat traditionally have significantly lowed or no acne rates.

In 2002, Dr. Cordain and colleagues published a landmark study of 300 people living on the Kitavan Islands off the coast of Papua New Guinea, which showed that none of these islanders had a single blemish on their face. Like the Kitavans, we observed no cases of acne when the same experiment was conducted on South American Indians called the Ache, living in a remote jungle in eastern Paraguay.

The Kitavan natives and South American Indians did not have access to the latest over-the-counter topical creams or conventional acne medications, and they did not have a dermatologist to consult. The only major difference between them and American or European citizens was their diet.

Acne Diet and Sugar: The Sugar Poison

Besides the fact that sugar is a 100% pure chemical with no nutritional value, recent studies have revealed a link between sugar consumption and worsening acne.

When you consume refined carbohydrates in any form (white sugar, white flour, white rice), here’s what happens: as soon as you introduce this “sugar poison” into your body, your blood sugar levels rise rapidly. Your body needs to bring those levels down, so it secretes a surge of insulin, other male hormones and an insulin-like growth factor called IGF-1. The excretion of these hormones overloads your liver and your internal system. Excess male hormones encourage your skin to excrete large amounts of sebum oil: the fatty substance that promotes the growth of p.acne bacteria, which causes your acne to worsen.

Acne diet and dairy products: Do you have milk? You have acne.

If you thought sugar could make your acne worse, here’s another major nutritional player in acne formation: here are the miracles of milk. Milk (all dairy products included) is the most harmful, mucus-producing, allergy-inducing, acne-worsening food you can find. Are you surprised? I thought so. After years of constant media brainwashing, who can blame us for thinking that milk is good for strong bones and healthy teeth? Every sip of milk contains 59 different hormones (which trigger hyperproduction of sebum, which promotes acne), saturated animal fats, steroid hormones, dead white blood cells and plenty of cow pus!

Did you know that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) allows 750 million pus cells in every liter of milk (about two pounds) produced in America? Think about that the next time you get a pimple.

Scientific studies are already pointing to milk as one of the worst acne aggravating foods: As Dr. Jerome Fisher pointed out, “About 80 percent of cows that give milk are pregnant and are constantly releasing hormones. Progesterone breaks down into androgens, which have been implicated as a factor in the development of acne... Dr. Fisher observed that his teenage acne patients improved as soon as milk consumption stopped.”

If there’s one thing you should cut out of your diet in the quest for unblemished skin, it’s this. Not only will you see an immediate improvement in your acne, but you’ll feel like a tremendous weight has been lifted from your body. If you’re worried about calcium intake, don’t worry! Because milk is an acid forming food, it creates a leeching effect where calcium is taken from your bones to balance the acidity. In fact, milk is robbing your body of its calcium resources. Green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds are not only excellent sources of calcium, they also have the power to help you fight acne symptoms.

Diet is only one factor that cause acne

Dairy and sugar are not the only foods that make acne worse. The above two cannot sum up the list of western foods that trigger acne. There are several other foods that you should clearly stay away from if you want your acne to clear up. The good news is that there are tons of other foods such as essential fatty acids that are not only great for your skin, they can actually help you clear your acne, rebalancing your body and promoting an acne-free environment.

Good nutrition plays an important role in the complex process of acne formation. When doctors claim that there is no link between diet and acne because some people can eat specific foods and get acne while others eat the same foods and don’t get acne, these doctors have failed to understand that there are many factors involved in the formation and worsening of acne and that diet is only ONE of them.

Both on the Internet and on the market you can find various methods to get rid of acne and pimples, including potions and lotions.
